The Sunrise System SRS100 Dawn Simulator uses the latest technology to create a natural way to awaken. Just plug your own bedside lamp into the Sunrise System, choose the settings to suit your lifestyle and your lamp will imitate sunrise and sunset.
The lamp mimics a morning sunrise and it will reach full brightness at the alarm wake up time you have chosen.
You can choose to wake up to the gradually brightening light or also set the alarm sounder which gradually increases in volume to wake you gently and naturally.
Sunrise and sunset times are programmable by the user and can be set between 15 and 90 minutes.

Customer Rating: Summary: Backlight programing change Comment: The most recent version of this product now has 4 choices for the backlight setting, including off. I know a few a the reviews complained about the backlight being too bright even when it is set on the dimmest setting.
You can't tell the difference between the versions as the company just internally reprogrammed it.
I own two of these units and I and my teenage son love them. Makes waking up the winter much easier.

Customer Rating: Summary: My girlfriend really likes it. Comment: Bought it for my girlfriend, who asked for a sunrise simulator for Christmas. I researched all of the sunrise simulators available on Amazon and this one sounded the best for her needs. My girlfriend enjoys it quite a bit after having used it for a few nights. She says she actually likes the sunset feature better than the sunrise one because it helps her fall asleep after/while reading. She tried it with her nightstand lamp (with an incandescent light bulb) first, but found that it was too bright because it is right next to her face; we connected it to her halogen floor lamp instead and it seems to work fine. We may also need to set the alarm time a bit later because it reaches a brightness level that wakes her up before the end of the simulated sunrise.
I really like that you can use it as a lamp dimmer with the plus and minus buttons, and can turn the lamp on and off with the snooze button.
The only negative thing I can say about it is that the minus (-) button seems to stick sometimes. It's minor enough to not be worth trying to exchange though.
Customer Rating: Summary: A Gentle Way to Wake Up Comment: I am one of those people that finds it almost impossible to get out of bed in the pitch black winter mornings. I have been using this clock for 2 months now and this clock *really* works. I actually do not have difficulty getting out of bed in the morning at 5:30 a.m. in the winter! There is an alarm that goes off at the end of the amount of time you have set the clock to gradually increase the light of a lamp. Most mornings I'm already awake. Honestly, I never thought it was possible to wake up gently in the dark in winter!
I gave this **** instead of ***** because as some mentioned, it is a bit complex to set up. I have not yet figured out how to use the snooze feature.
Customer Rating: Summary: A ray of sunshine Comment: Just to take a moment to address a few of the concerns from previous reviews: The light can be made to stay on after the 'wake up' cycle, by pressing the alarm on/off button. The reading light also stays on for as long as you'd like -- the snooze button is used to turn the light on and off. It also works with any light that can be dimmed -- incandescent, xenon, halogen, etc. It just works and works well.
Customer Rating: Summary: Really like this clock Comment: I really like this clock. I had looked at one that was a little less expensive but the lamp was integrated into the clock and it only had a 60 watt bulb which couldn't be changed, and also the fade-up time was 30 min only. I am glad I got this clock, because it turned out I actually need the 15 min fade-up time and also need a lower watt bulb (I think I use a 25 watt). The instruction manual could be improved, but actually I think the setting procedures are pretty logical and simple, once you understand that you have to have the lamp turned on and dimmed all the way down to set (which the manual doesn't explain). I found that using the lamp on my bedside table didn't work that great for me, as sometimes I am turned away from that side in the morning. I bought a little accent lamp at WalMart for $15 and put it across the room on my dresser so the light is at the foot of my bed. Works great that way. Didn't need to use an extension cord, but my house does have lots of outlets in every room. Have found that the clock keeps working when the power goes out -- not sure how that is done, as there isn't any battery to put in; maybe there's a rechargeable battery inside or something. I like the alarm sound, it is not loud or raucous, just a quiet little chirp, but very effective at waking you up. Once you turn off the chirp, the light will stay on until you dim it down again, which is nice, you can get to the bathroom and find your clothes, etc. The one thing I don't like about this clock is that you can't turn off the backlight, you can only dim it down a little. After being diagnosed with breast cancer last year, I have completely darkened my bedroom and I don't want any light at all. Darkness stimulates the production of melantonin, the hormone that sets your biological clock and helps you sleep. Light suppresses melatonin production. A link has been found between low melatonin levels and breast cancer. Also I have learned in reading a lot of health books, that chronic insomnia is VERY bad for your health, as your body needs deep and restful sleep to repair and rejuvenate itself. I had to put this clock inside a shoebox, which I slide in and out underneath the dresser. It works great for me, but of course, it would be nicer if the backlight could just be turned off. I highly recommend this clock.
