Customer Rating: Summary: Viralys (L-lysine) Oral Gel Comment: I found L-lysine to be helpful in keeping my cats eyes clear; he has Herpes and there is evidence that L-lysine aids in reducing the flare-ups. I have given him 500 mgs. a day for the last year and so far, no flare-ups of the virus. Viralys oral gel is apparently good tasting to cats as he eats it right off the plate.
Customer Rating: Summary: Not as palatable as the label says... Comment: I have a kitten that had discharge coming from her eyes and nose, and was sneezing often. My vet suggested I try Viralys, and showed me at her office how much I should use and how to administer it. We both noticed that my kitten was not pleased but decided I would try it given the vet's experience with the product. Unfortunately, it has been very difficult to administer to my cat. She does not like the taste, even when mixed with wet food (she leaves it alone). I tried putting some on her paws but once she tasted it, she left it alone. My older cat does not like the taste either. Had I known that my kitten would be so sensitive to this taste that she didn't like, I would have opted to pulverize lysine pills and sprinkle them on her food instead of spending much more on a messy gel she does not like.
Customer Rating: Summary: It really helps Comment: My cat has chronic issues and L-Lysine gives him relief. It is a little more liquid than most gel meds so be ready, but is is still preferable to paying $40 for a powder.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Product Comment: I have given this to my 2 year old kitty. She was diagnosed with a herpes in her left eye. She would have bouts with her eye just tearing and so red that she could barely open it up. My vet recommended lysine. I found this product read the reviews and decided to buy it. I have been using this for a couple of months. I can't believe what a difference this has made! I put in her wet food twice a day. And so far shes doing great! I really highly recommend this.
Customer Rating: Summary: My kitty loved it Comment: When my cat started having eye discharge, the vet said it was an outbreak of the herpes virus. She prescribed VET Viralys (along with erythromycin opthalmic ointment). I gave Viralys to my cat three times a day for a week. She loved the taste and happily licked it off my finger. After a week, the problem cleared up and has not returned. Highly recommended.
