Epakitin, a new nutritional supplement from Vétoquinol USA, Inc., safely and effectively supports kidney function and helps slow down the progression of chronic kidney disease. Easy to use in cats and dogs Helps pets feel better and live longer Great-tasting, easy-to-administer powder Can be used alone, mixed with regular food or in combination with a prescription renal diet Chronic Kidney Disease is one of the leading causes of death in dogs and cats. In North America, it is estimated that 8% of cats aged 10 years or more suffer from CKD. CKD affects approximately 2.4% of dogs aged 10 years or older. The diagnosis of Chronic Kidney Disease is generally based on low urine density and the increase of creatininemia, uremia and hyperphosphatemia, as well as clinical symptoms. By the time these symptoms become noticeable, serious damage may have occurred. Only when 75% of nephrons are no longer functional can clinical and biochemical signs of CKD be detected. While chronic kidney disease is incurable, adding Epakitin to the diet enables you to protect the renal function of dogs and cats better than ever. It is possible to slow down the auto-destructive cycle of CKD and increase life expectancy by limiting the increase of phosphatemia, with the help of a low phosphorus diet and/or by adding a phosphate binder to the diet. Epakitin is a chitosan-based nutritional supplement that is both a phosphate binder and uremic reducer. In clinical trials chitosan has been proven effective in decreasing phosphatemia, as well as reducing urea and creatinine blood levels. Ingredients: Lactose, Calcium Carbonate, Chitosan, Soy Protein. Indications For Use In Cats and Dogs. Allow free access to fresh water during administration. Administration can be life long. This is a nutritional supplement. For supporting renal function in cats and dogs. Administration: Give one scoop per 10 lbs orally twice daily with food. Always make sure fresh water is available for y

Customer Rating: Summary: Really works, no bad taste Comment: My dog is a survivor of the pet food recall. This product along with Azodyl has kept his BUN and Creatinine levels stable for over a year. He is feeling good with a good quality of life. I am a nurse and I researched many treatment options for him and the results of this are amazing. It is not a hoax like many other treatments. He responded poorly to the traditional medications which made him ill and he was taken off. He also is on a prescription dog food, homemade food, pet-tinic as an appetite stimulant/vitamin, omega 3 and vitamin E. I would strongly recommend to anyone wanting a longer, healthier and happy life for their pet diagnosed with chronic renal failure
Customer Rating: Summary: Saved his life Comment: My Yorkie had been in the Vet Hospital twice for CKF and lived to tell about it.However, when he became listless and drank execessive amounts of water, I knew he was in bad shape again. My vet suggested we give Epakitin a try and to stop giving him commerical dog food as it contains large amounts of Phopherous which is death for kidneys. Since using Epakitin twice daily sprinkled on his food he is back to his old self and the puppy he used to be hunting lizards and running around the yard. If your friend has CKF do yourself and them a favor and get this product.
Customer Rating: Summary: a pet lifesaver Comment: After losing one young dog to kidney failure I took 1 of my cats to a vet when it started drinking to much water. She diagnosed it as being in extreme kidney failure said there is no cure and did I want to put it down. NO, I did not. She said there was little to do except wait and maybe give water injections and let it eat only k/d presciption food. After a week she gave me a sample of EPAKITIN she said let my cat be the "guinea pig" to test the product. Well, let me tell you people who have been given no hope try Epakitin. IT WORKS. That was in April and it is now Nov. She plays, jumps, purrs, hunts for lizards everything she hadn't done in years( shes 13 years old) she had to have a follow up blood test and x-rays and the Vet said the kidneys are almost 100% normal and her blood was perfect. I have 7 animals all over 10 years old and I will be using epakitin on all of them for the rest of their lives. I love that some company has invented this product
