Each Cosequin DS Capsule Contains: Glucosamine HCL 500 mg Sodium Chondroitin Sulfate 400 mg Ascorbate (as Manganese Ascorbate) 33 mg Manganese (Ascorbate) 5 mg This double strength formulation is intended for larger dogs 25 lbs and over. Recommendation as a Supplement The Initial Administration Period is 6 Weeks. Most animals should respond within this period. Improvement on Cosequin can range from gradual to dramatic. If the improvement is gradual, it may go unnoticed by the owner. It is therefore important to keep the animal at the initial amount for at least 6 weeks before deciding to discontinue the use of Cosequin. If there is gradual improvement and Cosequin is discontinued, a regression of clinical status can occur. Summary: I'd say our dog acts 10 years younger, but she's only 9
Comment: This really worked. We tried the brands available in supermarkets and pet stores, but they had little or no effect. Our vet told us that those dosages are too low. She also said that we could purchase the product cheaper online than through her. After taking the higher dose for the recommended time, our nine-year-old Australian Cattle Dog, who couldn't make it up the stairs at night, was back chasing birds and squirrels, and jumping up trying to "kiss" visitors (have to take the good with the bad). We lowered her to the maintenance dose, and most of the time she does fine. However, after her neighborhood friend comes around, with whom she could literally play on and off all day, she still gets stiff by the evening and we have to up the dose for a couple of days.
I highly recommend this product.

Summary: Very happy... knock on wood
Comment: I have a 5 year old Australian Shepherd that developed a limp. I believe it was a result of years of frisbee and soccer. The vet checked her out from snout to tail and found nothing wrong with her, but the limp kept coming back and I was afraid she'd be cut down in her prime. Then I put her on Cosequin and she's been flying through the air ever since. 10+ months later shes been back to her old self. I still keep an eye on her, but so far so good, knock on wood.
