All originals. Mostly acoustic with a variety of styles - bluegrass, country, celtic, modern folk and unchartered musical forms! Luscious vocals and harmonies. Wide assortment of instrumentation - everything from acoustic guitar to Irish pipes to pedal steel. Great line-up of supporting musicians - Laurie Lewis, Keith Little, John Reischman, Scott Nygaard, Kathy Kallick, etc.

Summary: Keeps me Dreaming!
Comment: My daughter gave me this album for Christmas last year and it has an honored place in my library, but it isn't there often because it's in my player. It's a jewel of an album. Carol's music and lyrics are right on the nose and push all the right buttons. I've listened to it many times and it's always fresh.

Summary: More than a "Little Bit ..."
Comment: This CD contains beautiful harmonic all-original songs (folk/western/bluegrassy blend) with 10 great musicians joining Carol McComb -- a treasure! I'll listen to this lively CD many, many times. Great beat and melody. The lyrics (included with CD) are clever, funny (mostly), touching and wise. There are 12 songs. Some CD's have 3 songs you really like. This has 10 I love. It's more than a "LITTLE BIT of Heaven".

Summary: Forever a Fan
Comment: Carol McComb's album is delicious. Not a steady folk, country, bluegrass listener, this album has turned me into a rabid fan. The blend of styles and instruments is a rich sampling and there is something for everyone here. The richness of the music, the weaving of the instruments and Carol's voice leaves me wanting more. The album spans various styles - from the country lamentations of "Dreaming in Three Quarter Time" to the blugrass feel of "A Little Bit of Heaven" to one of the songs ending in accapella almost african rhythm chanting.

I play the album in my car and find myself singing the songs throughout the day. A sure sign of success.

If you like bluegrass, folk, country or even the song stylings of other female singers lik KD Lang or Patsy Cline or even Joni Mitchell - you will love this album

Summary: Quite a bit of Heaven actually
Comment: I should probably preface this review with the fact that I've been a student in various of Carol's workshops for about the past year now. So before picking up this album, I had already been familiar with her voice and her guitar work for some time. . . at least so I thought! Wow! Though I'd always been impressed with Carol's guitar work, singing, and incredible range in her workshops, I guess I had forgotten that most of the time she was playing down to level of the musicians in the class. Plus I hadn't much exposure to her song writing and arrangement skills, and they're impressive.

Little Bit of Heaven is just as another reviewer stated, enjoyable and memorable, from start to finish. I hadn't expected to get so many songs off the album stuck in my head, and for so long! Carol combines great melody, beautiful lyrics, and spot on arrangements for the great group of talent backing her up. Instrumentally, there's a mixture of guitar, banjo, mandolin, bass, violin, pipe, pedal steel, cello, and even a set of bag pipes or two. Sounds ecclectic on paper, but it works in your ear, and backed up with strong vocals by Carol and crew, it's a very enjoyable mix. Personal favorites include "She Always Breaks My Fall", "Simple Melody", "Dreaming in Three-Quarter Time" and of course the title track "Little Bit of Heaven", which is a fun bit of bluegrass thrown into the mix.

This album has made it into my car collection (where I listen to music the most), along side other great albums by Eric Clapton, Dave Matthews, Santana, Bela Fleck, John Coltrane, and the Buena Vista Social Club. Well worth your time and money!

Summary: We love these songs
Comment: It isn't often that you find a CD that is both enjoyable and memorable from start finish. Little Bit of Heaven is that and more. Every song on this CD is a gem and we find ourselves listening to it repeatedly. If you like a smooth female voice that can handle folk, country, jazz or lullabies with equal ease you'll love this CD. We recommend Little Bit of Heaven whole-heartedly.
