Editorial Reviews:

Now in full color, the Fourth Edition of this text gives students a thorough understanding of microbial agents and the pathophysiology of microbial diseases. The text facilitates learning and recall by emphasizing unifying principles and paradigms, rather than forcing students to memorize isolated facts by rote. Case studies with problem-solving questions give students insight into clinical applications of microbiology. Each chapter ends with review and USMLE-style questions. For this edition, all schematic illustrations have been re-rendered in full color and new illustrations have been added. A new online site for students includes animations, USMLE-style questions, and all schematic illustrations and photographs from the text.

Summary: Best Medical Micro Text Ever-Reads Like a Good Novel!
Comment: I teach microbiology to nursing students, so I only use this book as a reference. It's a wonderful book; I take it to bed with me and don't fall asleep (really). The information is comprehensive without being unnecesarily difficult, and the organization and presentation are so intuitive, it seems to answer your next question before you even formulate it. My only gripe is WHERE IS THE NEW EDITION??? Even though this book is old, 1998, it's still worth the money, but it doesn't have the new emergent diseases like TSE and SARS.

Summary: Indispensable guide to microbiology
Comment: Excellent presentation of material relevant to all aspects of microbiology mechanisms within the medical industry. Core book! A must have!
